Nina's adventures: That Little Girl

So, today being sunday, I had to go to church.

After singing worship songs with my friends, we sat down and Pastor Dale started his sharing. Okay I have a confession to make, I use my phone at times during the sharing (please don't kill me) and I guess what I'm about to tell you is the "punishment" from God.

Basically, I was seated down with my jacket on my lap (how SC-girl like right?) with my phone on top of it… and guess what happened. It slid of my jacket and dropped into the row in front of me… *facepalm*

(Btw) in front of the row in front of me, there isn't another row. It's like a walking path. So some derp could just walk across and kick my phone further away while I was already panicking. I could not reach it (damn my short hands…) and my friends leg was too short to reach for it too… I was stuck… Well, my phone was.

Right at that moment my pastor asked the church to stand (we were going to pray) and the two girls about 4 seats from the right noticed my phone on the floor. They looked around and our eyes met. I gave them the "yes it's my phone, yes I know I'm stupid for dropping it" face. Our pastor started praying and we bowed our heads. As he was ending his prayer, this little girl came running up to my phone…

*KEY DRAMATIC MUSIC*

I was basically like this:

1. She was probably gonna take my phone and run back to her parents. I couldn't possible like grab her during prayer and snatch my phone back…

2. I couldn't storm up to her to and demand her to give it back… in front of like 10929312738 people...

image

But guess what this little girl did. She did something that I had not expected at all. She took the phone, looked around and then she looked up at me I stretched out my hand and before I was about to say: Sorry that's mine, she just placed it on my hand and skipped back to her parents.

I didn't know how I felt other than MY PHONE!!!! I GOT IT BACK!!!!!!

Thinking back about it, it kinda made me realise the innocence of a child.
That little girl didn't expect anything in return after picking my phone.
That little girl did not take it away from me.
That little girl did not laugh at me for being careless.
That little girl instead, gave it back to me without any hesitation.

It showed me how we should learn from children sometimes.

People this days are so judgemental and if it was an adult or youth who picked my phone up, they would probably leave having an impression of: "wow this girl is careless" about me or something else, as compared to this little girl...

Hence I'd like to end my blogpost with this poem:

A child's innocence
is because they are fresh and new
A child's innocence
is because they have not yet seen evil debut

A child's innocence
is because they are still pure
A child's innocence
is because they have been unchallenged for sure

A child's innocence
is because their life is so beautiful and clear
A child's innocence
is because they were not yet taught about fear

A child's innocence
is because they have not yet been taught to hate
A child's innocence
is because they are still loved with debate

A child's innocence
is something to that we should cherish
A child's innocence
is somthing that should not perish

A child's innocence
is our last hope
A child's innocence
could teach us to cope

CNY at the library

Hey everyone! Happy CNYY! Hope ya'll are having a great one collecting ang paos and eating ^_^

So today, my school was rewarded a full day off when other schools had a half day (haha suckers) <--- (jkjk) Due to our good O level results in 2013 (thank you seniors <3) So what did I do? Well... me and 3 other friends decided to go out to the *drumroll* esplanade library haha yes awfully boring? NO WRONG! :P x___x We had a great time :D

Yea... we spent most of the time derping around hehe...

Okay we planned to meet at the esplanade library to start our revision for our tests and holiday assignments (the perks of being a singaporean student: holidays? NOPE homework, tests revision, assignments, graded projects *sigh*)

Oh well, anyways, we met at the Starbucks at the end of City link (me and mavis) and waited for Nicole to come. Fun fact: I bought a banana instead of a drink... at Starbucks (yes I'm completely normal guys ^^) Mavis got a green tea thingy <--- I'm not a huge Starbucks fan so yea... no hate please. Nic finally came and we called Shana to ask where she was. The conversation went something like this:

Me: "Hey where are you now?"

Shana: "Oh... I'm on the way."

Me: "Eh. Wheres on the way?"

Shana: "At home......"

That moment of silence where i just face palmed so badly.

So 3 of us walked to Marina square to get some Macs. Side story: I got some CNY limited edition kind of burger and nope didn't like it. TOO PEPERY T^T *lunch ruined* thank God for them twister fried <3 Shana finally arrived and we headed to esplanade library.

Side story: I was fooling around as per usual and in the process kind of locked shanas phone. The girl also forgot her PIN to unlock it again so I spent 1/2 in the library, trying to unscrew the mess I just made... In the end, I had to search how to reset her phone and I had to wipe out the data on her phone just to unlock it again... Thankfully, it was only 1 month old and there was nothing much in it. But lesson *never be like nina and try to disable your friends samsung S2 ace phone cuz it isnt like an iPhone*

We spent 2 hrs studying and doing A math (the fun...) and trying to teach nigo and mervis how to solve stuff. Finally, we went to the roof of the esplanade library and spent the rest of our time there. If you wanna take photos, it's kinda a good place to go to ^___^

So we spent the rest of our time taking polaroids and just derping around :P I'll just stop typing now so you can judge our photos ><

The sun was too bright for these 2 polaroids T^T

A wild Mavis and Nicole Fong arranging films :3

My tongue is crazily long D: omg NUUUUUU

Hehe oggay thats all :D just wanted to say, thank guys for the great day hehe thanks for making the start of my CNY! Lets have another study date soon ^^ and loads more photos

xoxo
nina

Fun end blogpost story:

After the whole thing ended, we took the circle line train back home and btw circle line train pepo, the train had like no air con ): So anyways, I alighted and parted with Nicole at Serangoon to transfer to the purple line. And guess what... yep there was many people, so when the train came, they all rushed aboard and poor me was at the end. By the time i stepped into the train, the doors began to close (oh great) come one man... I was tired and my phone was at 1%, now I had to worry about the doors of the train... I squished myself inside but my shoulder got caught and MY BELOVED BAG TOO D: I have a bruise to prove it. So yay bruised shoulder what else could go wrong? The door decided to be persistent and clam my poor bag :*( I yanked at it but no the door was persistent thankfully some guy near me helped me and my bag was somewhat saved... apart from the small tear :*( And after I got my bag out, the door stayed that way and I think I kinda screwed up the timing and all a bit cuz after 15sec the doors closed and the train started moving. I spent the ride looking down and I hopped of the train at the next station cuz I couldn't stand the embarrassment.

^ Lesson learnt, please beware when boarding trains. I have to suffer CNY with a bruised shoulder now.

Nina's adventures: Church Camp and Crazy Friends

Hey guys.

Wow... I've been so busy I've like totally neglected blogging haha!

Oh well, NINA IS BACK. And be prepared cause I'm gonna be blogging about my church camp this week! Yippie! But I'm not going to be talking about everything I did in detail but more about the new crazy idiotic and wonderful people I met <3

I'm in my room now and it's so cold outside *shivers*
I'm listening to ALL TIME LOW :D

It was like a beach resort <3
Okay so we took a total of abut 3 coaches to Desaru? I'm not sure >< (Please don't kill me) My bus didn't really have much people I knew so I just sat at the back with 3 friends and played my ukulele hehe. (I hope I didn't irritate anyone) :p We reached the hotel and I stayed there before it was so dejavu. OKAY SAD PART. MY ROOM WAS LIKE 3 BLOCKS AWAY FROM EVERYTHING!!!!!!111!!!!!1!!!!!!!11111one one one. So every time we had to go somewhere, we had to like leave 5-10mins earlier *pouts*

TEAM OHANA FTW (Thats my group for the camp hehe we rock ^^)
Photo: TEAM OHANA - FAMILY ! (too bad Jiani couldn't join us for the pic). Help me tag others ya.

The camp was super exhausting cause of the games and all (Tug-of-war almost ripped my hands off) But along the 4 days, I met new people and bonded with my old friends ^^ <-- Hehe old friends see what I did there claire? :3 The water games were the best :) 2nd last team standing not bad not bad :p

One of the most funny things yet disturbing was the monkeys. You see, we were eating at a somewhat open air, sheltered area and a monkey was on the roof opposite our eating area. I got kinda freaked out cause monkeys scare me. It was walking around when another one appeared so instinctively, I was just: OH the mommy is here to take the baby away. But ohhh man I was so wrong... The bigger monkey came over and started humping the smaller one and the whole place just erupted with laughter after a few seconds of silence. I was *poker face* and then when everyone started laughing, I couldn't help but join in.

To start off, thrashing peoples rooms were the best. Just hanging out in the room eating, talking, playing UNO, watching sharmaine get sort of possessed. It was crazy and thinking back we must have disturbed like countless people, but I guess I can say it was worth it cause we had so much fun ;) We thrashed other rooms too but I won't elaborate on that :p later get into trouble! XP

Well, surprisingly, I got to know more people better over the phone :p I got prank called and the boys were taking turns to talk so I was just : whu- why- whuttt is happening D: and then my saviour Claire would come and scold them. But it was fun ^^ talking and disturbing people at 12-1am :p (HAHA sharmaine and Elijah) *evil laugh* haha next morning I'd get a morning call from Natalie with her shouting: GOOD MORNING. And I'd just be: Urgh... morning *imagine me saying this with a sexy voice like a low one XD*

Finally, the last night.

It

Was

The

Best

Y'all should thank me alright. Imagine if I hadn't downloaded charades D: Yea so I got to know so many crazy peeps better. It's funny... how such a simple game like that can bring so many people together! Acting the weird actions out, char rocking became humping *laughs* and singing out songs disturbing others. I can't stand it it was just so funny :3

I can't believe that its over too. Like *snap* 4 days passed... But I'm really glad that I got to meet you guys and bond more with my other friends! It's kinda sad we only bonded on the last night too >:-( Haha but better late then never :D So lets do our best to serve and praise god!

August Favourites

Hey Guys!

It's september!!!

Okay so this is new, I'll be doing monthly favourites from this month onwards :D EOYs are coming up too so I'll try my best to be updating this blog more regularly!!!

Kays everything aside, lets start!

1. What's the funniest thing that happened to you?

Its probably having the lizard popping out of my pile of books and making my scream and run out of class. I have a blogpost about that below! So, go check it out :)

2. Did you read any books?

Sadly, no! I have not much time during this period! I don't even have time to read my mangas!

3. Which movies did you watch?

Monsters university! I love the show so much! (I watched it on megashare though!) Monster ink has been my childhood movie so when the sequal came out, I was just ASDFGJKL LEMME>< I watched it in the cinema but I loved so much, I decided to watch it again.

4. Something that made you proud of yourself?

I FINALLY WENT TO PAPER MARKET AND GOT MY SCRAPBOOKING MATERIAL! (Okay confession: I have never bought anything in paper market until last friday)
So, I'm really happy my mom brought me there. I got a fresh supply of scrapbooking material and I've been doing more scrapbooking pieces!

5. Which games did you play?

Plants Vs. Zombies II

6. Did you travel anywhere?

Nope! Does the toilet count?

7. Which foods did you try and love?

I tried to eat butter cookies again because I'm not a fan of sweet stuff and whenever I go into the kitchen now, I'll just pop a cookie into my mouth and munch on it while carrying on with my stuff

8. Which songs have you been listening to?

I've been very interested in Indie rock music this few months so go check em out!

Sum 41, Pieces
Capital Cities, Safe and Sound
Snowmine, let me in

Thats bout all!

9. Favourite products?

My whole scrapbooking haul <3 and the 99 dollar dress which I still have not laid my hands on... :<

10. What did you learn?

Bananas relief depression and that people who listen to more music are more likely to be more depressed.

Thats all guys! Stay tuned and keep reading!

CYA!

P.s. Eat more bananas :D

Nina's adventures: ZAD the LIZARD

Hey guys! Back with a short entry of *drum roll* Nina's adventures!!!

Okay so it all started on a very very mundane Monday of a particular week. I was sitting in class as usual, trying to stay awake hehe during a certain class (I shall not mention the class name :P) So we were supposed to be referring to our notes.

So, without any notes on my table, I reached underneath my desk to take out my whole book pile and began searching for the notes.

And this is when you need to pay attention, if you want to have a laugh. While I flipped through my books, a tiny lizard head popped out of my book pile. And this is how I reacted.

*clam* hmm what the heck is that black thing

*starting to realise* WTH why is it moving

*PANIC* OMG ITS A FREAKING LIZARD'S HEAD

*PANICE X100000* throws everything onto the floor and runs out of class (I sit right next to the door)

It might not seem scary reading this but trust me, Imagine having a pile of books on your lap and searching through them, when a lizard head pops out! So I came back into class, with of course, everyone staring at me...

My friend then comes over and picks up the lizard with her BARE hands and drops it about 5cm in front of me

Thanks...

So yea I was definitely awaken by that incident by everyone's laughter and possible the worse fright I have ever gotten in class... Now I am super paranoid that there is a lizard infestation under my desk... Oh gosh T^T

Well, that's it for Nina's adventures! Stay tuned for more silly moments!

Don't comapre

Hey guys today I'll be talking about comparison

So I guess (presume) everyone compares themselves to other. Often we compare other people too. Well to me, comparison is a good thing! Most people use it to push themselves and improve in their own ways be it in studies or anything else!

However, comparison can bring along a lot of stress and harm ):

Today I'll just be ranting and taking about the damage comparison brings and maybe a few points here and there about the good sides of comparison.

Okay well, I'll be talking mostly about my own experiences and myself so again if your not interested stop scrolling :)

Hope you like it!

First of all, I'm someone who loves to compare myself to other. This helps me in different ways like my studies but it also demoralises me... a lot. You see, when we compare, we usually look at the persons capabilities, what he or she has and you don't look at their flaws. Why does she have such good look? Why is he stronger? Why does she have so many followers? Why is he so popular?

Unless what you want is achievable, all these questions will only bring you down. Its totally normal for humans to compare each other but sometimes we over do it and end up feeling like 💩

Ranting starts in:

As most of you know, my Mother teaches in the same school as me. More specifically, the same secondary school as me and furthermore, she is the HOD (head of department) of English. My mom is very efficient in her work she is super organised and I really have a lot of respect toward her in that. So I feel sometimes, when I get new teachers, they somehow expect me to be like my Mom. Sigh. I feel it is actually super demoralising because firstly, my studies are not that good and also, I am nothing like my Mom. So there came a point where I felt everything was so demanding for me. Why did everyone have such high expectations, why was I always falling behind my Mom's shadows? Why couldn't everyone just accept who I was?

That was a dark period of time. I had to handle a lot of things. The stress level did not really help too. I could not do as much art pieces and I feel very pressurised and as if no one knew the pain I was going through. Test after test, the homework never stopped coming in. I still recall that I spent most of my nights sleeping with a wet pillow and tear drops still sitting on my face.

So I finally came to a stage where I said: Enough is enough. I must stop comparing myself I am who I am. I went to talk to both my parents individually and I felt much better after pouring everything out. Haha I remember crying in the car to my Dad (probably scared the crap out of him!) After talking and a lot of drawings (incase you don't know I draw a lot when I'm feeling down!) and SUPER A LOT of advise and comfort, I got back to who I am again. *yay* *cheers*

So, do you guys feel this way too?
Maybe some of you guys are compared like me to your siblings? A friend who out shines you? Or maybe you have huge expectations placed upon you? I just want to tell you guys, don't compare.

Eh Nina easier than you say la! <--- maybe you're saying this now :) But I want to tell you that is the only thing we can do. I also felt very frustrated to hear my Dad tell me that but it is the truth. The only person you can beat is yourself don't go gauge or compare yourself with someone else! You'll end up very miserable because there is always someone better than you (shan wai you shan) <--- Chinese cheng yu :3

BE WHO YOU ARE AND NOT WHO YOU WANT TO BE
-Nina Neo :D

Haha you've gotta accept yourself! Look a your strengths! You may be able to do something that another person posses but you definitely can do something that the other person can't!

So, be who you are and not who you want to be!

THANKS FOR READING.
